Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
