Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While participating in internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best players anywhere in the world may be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in big stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
