Poker has become world famous as of late, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game events. Its universal appeal, though, arcs back in fact a bit further than its TV scores. Over the years numerous variations on the first poker game have been developed, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling chemin de fer than old guard poker, in that the gamblers wager against the house instead of the other players. The succeeding hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or other kinds of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up before the croupier broadcasting "No further bets." At that point, both you and the bank and of course all of the different players are given five cards. Once you have looked at your hand and the casino’s initial card, you have to either make a call wager or bow out. The call bet’s amount is akin to your beginning ante, which means that the stakes will have doubled. Abandoning means that your ante goes instantly to the dealer. After the wager is the conclusion. If the house does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, plus an amount on par with the initial wager. If the dealer has a hand with ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand defeats the casino’s hand. The dealer pony’s up money equal to your ante and controlled expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for two pairs
  • 3-1 for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
