Poker has become world celebrated recently, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back in reality a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years several variants on the earliest poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with vingt-et-un than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers bet against the house rather than the other players. The succeeding hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little concealment or other kinds of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up before the croupier announcing "No further bets." At that point, both you and the house and of course every one of the other gamblers acquire 5 cards each. After you have seen your hand and the dealer’s initial card, you must either make a call wager or give up. The call bet’s amount is on same level to your original wager, which means that the stakes will have increased two fold. Giving Up means that your wager goes instantly to the casino. After the bet is the showdown. If the casino does not have ace/king or greater, your bet is returned, plus a figure on par with the initial wager. If the house does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand is greater than the dealer’s hand. The house pony’s up cash even with your ante and fixed odds on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
