Poker has become world acclaimed recently, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, arcs back in reality a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years numerous variations on the first poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely resembling blackjack than traditional poker, in that the players bet against the house rather than each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is no concealment or different types of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up before the croupier declares "No further wagers." At that point, both you and the dealer and of course all of the different players are given five cards each. Once you have observed your hand and the dealer’s first card, you have to either make a call bet or give up. The call bet’s value is on same level to your beginning wager, which means that the stakes will have doubled. Giving Up means that your bet goes instantaneously to the house. After the bet comes the showdown. If the dealer doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, with an amount on par with the initial bet. If the bank does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand is greater than the bank’s hand. The dealer pony’s up cash even with your wager and controlled odds on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for 3 of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
