Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
